How did Our Books start?

It all started in 2023 when my daughter-in-law asked me to prepare an advent activity for my grandchildren that would teach them the actual meaning of Christmas, as we, who are Christians, would celebrate the holiday.

From there birthed the idea to put the story of the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord into a book that could be stored away with the annual Christmas goodies and be read as a family fun/devotional time every day of every December.

The response to the first book, Our December Book, was overwhelmingly encouraging and many users asked whether I would consider compiling more family studies that revolve around relevant issues faced by families in general in today’s world.

From there Our October Book was birthed which is a 31-day study of 1Peter and covers a number of themes that respond to the realities of life in a fallen society.

Our March Book was next to surface as I realised that the journey of our Lord Jesus Christ to the cross is the crux of what Christianity is about and should be prioritised over any other teaching we may share with our families.

The aim is to have a relevant theme for every month of the year.

Book number 4 should be available in the next couple of months. I pray that each of these books will minister into bonding time for all families who decide to use them to engage together around the Word of God.

Vision

It is our prayer that the OUR BOOKS SERIES will eventually provide a range of 12 “evergreen” family devotional workbooks (1 for each month of the year) that can be used repeatedly over the years by families as they grow and mature together.

The aim is to encourage all members of families, regardless of their ages, to come together to engage around the Word of God by discussing thought-provoking topics as discovered in the Bible and to help all to implement what they learn in their every day lives.

How wonderful would it be if we could live our lives centred entirely on what we are taught in Scripture?
