About Kathy

Kathy Mercer is presently a resident of the little town of Sedgefield in the Western Cape, South Africa.

She spent her whole working life in the field of education. Her humble beginnings were as an ECD practitioner in the heart of Johannesburg and over the years she moved through the various phases of schooling and adult education, gaining experience in teaching and interacting with all age groups.

Kathy is married to a pastor and she and Graeme have shared in ministry to God’s people for over 30 years.

In this time, Kathy has served predominantly in the mission field by being involved in the Early Childhood Development sector in one way or another, be it establishing schools, training and mentoring teachers, uplifting facilities and resources, etc. in the low-income communities of the dynamic social structure of South Africa.

Her passion is to see folk empowered to do what God has called them to do to the best of their ability and to see their potential fulfilled.

Kathy became progressively aware that society has become very digitally focused and that families are communicating less and less across the generations.

The Word of God has been losing its place and impact in the lives of our families and we have become far too dependent upon the church to teach our children the values contained in the Word of God.

This explains her heart for creating family devotional materials that can be used inter-generationally to help families to set time aside to engage more personally with each other around the Word of God and to bond with each other on a deeper relational level, regardless of the age gaps that may exist.
